Energy companies from Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan have launched a joint venture to advance the development of a transcontinental “green energy” corridor that will transmit renewable electricity from Central Asia to Europe.

The new entity, named Green Corridor Alliance, was established following the signing of an agreement between Azerbaijan’s Azerenerji, Kazakhstan’s KEGOC, and Uzbekistan’s National Electric Grids. The signing ceremony took place in Baku, where the charter of the joint venture was also approved.
Operating out of Baku, the alliance will coordinate efforts to implement a high-voltage renewable electricity transmission project designed to boost energy security, support sustainable development, and deliver “green” power to European markets.
The formation of Green Corridor Alliance follows a series of high-level commitments between the three countries. At the COP29 international climate summit in Baku in November 2024, the presidents of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan signed a strategic agreement to cooperate in the development and transmission of renewable energy.
