Volkswagen is set to launch full-scale car production in Uzbekistan through a partnership with Uzavtosanoat, marking a step in expanding its footprint in Central Asia’s automotive market.
The announcement was made during the IV Tashkent International Investment Forum, where a new agreement was signed between Germany’s Volkswagen AG and Alyans Auto, a subsidiary of Uzavtosanoat.
The deal aims to expand the production range to include modern passenger cars—from sedans to full-size crossovers—tailored specifically to the needs of the local market.
"This cooperation is an important step toward expanding Volkswagen’s sustainable presence in the market," said Martin Sander, Board Member for Sales, Marketing and After-Sales at Volkswagen AG. “Located in the heart of the region, Uzbekistan offers great opportunities for organizing automotive production and export.”
Under the agreement, the project will establish new production facilities, enhance the level of localization, introduce advanced technologies, and boost the export potential of Uzbekistan’s automotive industry. Mass production is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025.
Volkswagen’s presence in Uzbekistan dates back to 2019, when it began assembling Caddy light commercial vehicles and Skoda Kodiaq crossovers at a facility in Jizzakh under the Jizzakh Auto brand. In 2020, a separate agreement with Volkswagen Group Rus launched production of light commercial vehicles at the Jizzakh Free Economic Zone. These models were sold in the domestic market starting that summer.
Following a corporate audit by Volkswagen’s Business Process Description and Documentation (BPDD) division, the plant rebranded as Alliance Auto in 2025. The company reaffirmed its commitment to Volkswagen’s high standards for quality and customer service.
