Bulgaria ranks among Kazakhstan's top 15 trading partners in the European Union, with bilateral trade reaching $375mn in 2024. As part of efforts to further strengthen this relationship, Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov met with Bulgarian President Rumen Radev during his first official visit to the country.

The two leaders discussed the implementation of high-level agreements reached during previous state negotiations. Bektenov reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to fully carrying out these agreements, emphasizing the importance of expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.
Particular attention was given to increasing mutual trade in organic agricultural products from Kazakhstan, establishing joint ventures for processing and exporting chemical goods and products with high added value, and developing transport and logistics links.

The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, also known as the Middle Corridor, was highlighted as a key strategic initiative to enhance trade connectivity between Central Asia and Europe.
Both sides also explored opportunities for deepening investment cooperation in areas such as information technology, pharmaceuticals, and tourism. The talks included a focus on promoting experience exchange between business communities in both countries.
Currently, joint projects worth over $117mn are being developed, aimed at creating new jobs and strengthening economic ties between Kazakhstan and Bulgaria.
