Kazakhstan and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) signed an agreement to support economic reforms and strengthen regional competitiveness during the Astana International Forum (AIF).
The Agreement on Financing the Eurasian Competitiveness Agenda marks a step toward deepening cooperation between Kazakhstan and the OECD. It aims to accelerate the adoption of OECD standards, improve legal and institutional frameworks, and foster sustainable growth in Kazakhstan and neighboring Central Asian economies.
The agreement will bolster the Eurasian Competitiveness Programme, which serves as a strategic platform for policy development, technical expertise, and capacity-building initiatives to help align the region with international economic practices.
Andreas Schaal, Director of Global Affairs and Cooperation at the OECD, praised Kazakhstan’s proactive role in the program.
“We highly appreciate Kazakhstan’s commitment to promoting best global practices and creating a sustainable economic environment in the Eurasian region,” he stated.
During the AIF panel session titled “Building Economic Resilience”, OECD experts highlighted Kazakhstan’s notable achievements in governance reforms, digital transformation, and innovation. These advancements have contributed to the country’s rising position in global competitiveness rankings and reinforced its leadership status in the region.
The partnership is expected to have a broad impact on the Eurasian region, offering expert support and driving forward economic reforms that enhance stability, transparency, and inclusive growth.
