A productive working meeting was held in Bukhara between representatives of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan and a delegation from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Turkey.
The talks focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in passenger and freight transportation, as well as modernizing Uzbekistan’s transport infrastructure.
The two sides discussed plans to develop and upgrade bus stations and passenger hubs in Uzbekistan, drawing on Turkey’s extensive experience in these areas.
A key outcome was the agreement to study Turkey’s implementation of a “smart transport system” to help improve passenger transport services in Uzbekistan.
A significant part of the discussion centered on accelerating digitalization in the transport sector to facilitate smoother international cargo movement for Uzbek carriers.
Currently, electronic permits (E-permits) are issued for “bilateral” and “transit” transportation. The parties confirmed that the transfer of permit forms for transport “to/from third countries” into the E-permit system will soon be completed, with the system launching in test mode.
Importantly, the two ministries agreed to fully convert all types of transport permit forms into electronic format starting from early 2026. This move is expected to streamline permit issuance, reduce paperwork, and enhance efficiency in Uzbekistan’s transport sector.
