The National Agency for Social Protection will host a national conference on May 26 to present a comprehensive 10-year strategy and action plan aimed at protecting children from all forms of violence. The event stresses Uzbekistan’s commitment to creating a safe and nurturing environment for every child.
The conference, titled "From Commitment to Action: Strategies and National Perspectives on Ending Violence Against Children," will bring together representatives from the United Nations, UNICEF, international organizations, and civil society institutions to discuss and coordinate efforts on this vital issue.
"Let’s create a system together so that every child feels protected, surrounded by attention and love," said Shakhnoza Mirziyoyeva emphasizing the importance of collective responsibility in safeguarding children's rights.
This conference is held within the framework of the recently enacted law on the protection of children from all forms of violence, which came into force on May 15, 2025. The law was adopted by Uzbekistan’s Legislative Chamber on May 31, 2024, and approved by the Senate on August 15, 2024. It consists of five chapters and 51 articles, outlining the state’s duty to take legal, administrative, social, economic, and other measures to protect children from violence.
Key provisions of the law include the rehabilitation of violence victims, restoration of their rights, and implementation of effective measures to ensure their social adaptation. The law marks a significant step toward a safer future for Uzbekistan’s children.
Earlier this year, on April 9, 2025, an international dialogue on child protection was held in Tashkent, focusing on the introduction and implementation of this new legislation.
