Uzbekistan has ratified the Treaty on Allied Relations with Azerbaijan, marking a new milestone in bilateral ties between the two countries.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the ratification law on May 19, 2025. The document was previously adopted by the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis on February 25 and approved by the Senate on April 30.
The treaty was originally signed by President Mirziyoyev and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev during a state visit to Tashkent on August 23, 2024. The agreement outlines a broad framework for enhanced cooperation and alliance between the two nations.
According to the official text, the treaty consolidates a new stage in interstate relations focused on deepening mutual independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, while supporting sustainable economic growth.

The agreement also commits both parties to refrain from participating in military or political blocs that could be seen as hostile to one another. It emphasizes mutual respect, strategic partnership, and the importance of avoiding actions that may undermine the alliance.
By formalizing the treaty into national law, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan aim to further solidify trust, deepen friendly relations, and promote long-term strategic cooperation. The ratification reflects both countries' shared vision of stability, development, and regional partnership.
