Uzbekistan and Iran have signed a roadmap to strengthen their comprehensive cooperation for the years 2025-2027. The agreement was reached during an official visit to Iran by a government delegation led by Uzbekistan's Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov.

The signing ceremony took place in Tehran on May 11, following a meeting between the Uzbek government delegation and Iran's First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref.
The parties recognized the meeting as an excellent opportunity to explore new areas of cooperation and thoroughly discussed ways to reach the $2 billion trade target set by the presidents.
A key focus of the discussions was enhancing cooperation in the transport and logistics sectors. Both parties acknowledged the need to address long-standing issues and take practical steps to resolve them. Strengthening ties in these areas is seen as crucial for the expansion of trade and the smooth flow of goods between the two nations.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of deepening industrial cooperation, promoting regional ties, and fostering partnerships in science, education, technology, and innovation. There was also an agreement to elevate collaboration in tourism, culture, and humanitarian initiatives.
In addition, the meeting resulted in several agreements, including the signing of a roadmap for 2025-2027, a protocol for approving the list of goods under the Preferential Trade Agreement, and memorandums of understanding (MOUs) on plant protection, quarantine, and Halal standards.
The Uzbek government press service emphasized that relevant ministries and departments would work more actively to ensure the timely implementation of the agreements made at the highest levels.

Strengthening Trade and Cooperation
Uzbekistan and Iran have been steadily expanding their trade relations, with increasing cargo volumes, joint ventures, and direct flights between their capitals.
In October 2024, the two nations reached preliminary agreements to implement preferential trade measures, aiming to increase mutual trade tenfold.
A phone conversation between Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on April 1, 2025, further discussed the development of bilateral ties.
Both leaders focused on supporting and accelerating cooperation in key sectors such as chemicals, petrochemicals, textiles, food industries, agriculture, and building materials.
The high-level talks, held in October 2024 during an international forum in Ashgabat, underscored the importance of addressing urgent issues and advancing multifaceted relations between the two countries.
