Kazakhstan has expressed its readiness to increase supplies to the Vietnamese market across 35 product categories, including petrochemicals, metallurgy, chemicals, mechanical engineering, food products, and more.
This move comes as part of efforts to boost bilateral trade and reach a target of $2bn in trade turnover between the two nations. The announcement was made during discussions between Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov and the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, To Lam in Kazakhstan.
The talks centered around the implementation of the Joint Declaration on the Establishment of a Strategic Partnership between Kazakhstan and Vietnam, signed by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and To Lam.
Both leaders explored opportunities to expand cooperation in key areas such as agriculture, transport, logistics, civil aviation, tourism, and the integration of digital services, with a particular focus on exchanging best practices in artificial intelligence.
The agricultural sector also saw positive momentum, with trade in agricultural products growing by 3.5% last year and Kazakhstan’s agricultural exports to Vietnam increasing 15-fold. Additionally, both sides discussed the exchange of scientific expertise and the adoption of modern agricultural technologies to further boost productivity.
In transport and logistics, both nations emphasized the importance of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, which will significantly reduce delivery times for goods from Vietnam, facilitating smoother trade flows between the two countries.
Following the discussions, both Kazakhstan and Vietnam reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their trade and economic cooperation, setting the stage for a new phase of partnership between the two nations.
