Uzbekistan and China are set to collaborate on the creation of a new industrial technology park in the Samarkand region. The initiative, backed by Chinese investors, was announced by Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade.

Deputy Minister Ilzat Kasimov recently met with a Chinese delegation led by Wang Zhiyong, head of Xinjiang New Vision Investment Development Company, and Zhang Xuan, head of Envision Energy. Discussions centered on plans for a 300-hectare scientific and technological industrial park. The project envisions 12 investment initiatives, alongside dedicated research and logistics zones.
According to the ministry, the industrial park aims to boost high-value production, deepen Uzbek-Chinese investment ties, and promote technological exchange.

This development follows other ongoing projects between Uzbekistan and China. Earlier this year, construction began on the Buyuk Ipak Yuli industrial zone in Almalyk, where small refrigerators, transformers, textiles, and pharmaceuticals will be produced in cooperation with Chinese companies.
Additionally, an industrial zone within the Chirchik technopark is planned, with around 20 enterprises in the electrical, textile, and pharmaceutical sectors. The project is expected to attract $200mn in foreign investment.
In 2M25, China remained Uzbekistan's largest trade partner, with a trade volume of $2.08bn. While this reflects a slight drop from $2.12bn in 2024, it remains well above the $1.33bn recorded in 2023. China's share in Uzbekistan’s total trade stood at 19.2%.
