In the first five months of 2024, Uzbekistan has seen an influx of American tourists, according to data released by the Statistics Agency. A total of 10,600 visitors from the United States chose Uzbekistan as their destination during this period. The primary motivations for their visits were diverse, reflecting the country's appeal across different interests.
The majority of American tourists, numbering 8,446 individuals, visited Uzbekistan for leisure purposes. Many were drawn to the famed cities of Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva, renowned for their historical landmarks and architectural marvels.
Uzbekistan also attracted 1,089 American travelers for business purposes. The increasing popularity of international conferences, business forums, and exhibitions has positioned Uzbekistan as a key hub for business interactions.
A significant portion, 832 people, arrived to visit relatives. The strong Uzbek diaspora in the United States continues to foster familial connections and cultural exchanges between the two nations.
Additionally, 167 individuals visited Uzbekistan for commercial purposes, such as trade missions, and 136 individuals visited for various other reasons, including participation in events and research trips.
The statistics indicate a promising trend for tourism from the United States to Uzbekistan, with expectations of continued growth in the coming months. As Uzbekistan enhances its tourism infrastructure and promotes its rich cultural heritage, it remains poised to attract even more visitors from across the globe, including from the United States.
On the other hand, from January to May 2024, 2.2mn Uzbek citizens embarked on international travel for tourism. This represents a notable rise of 569,200 individuals, equating to a 35.5% increase compared to the same period last year.
Throughout these initial five months of 2024, Uzbek tourists explored a range of destinations, with the highest numbers visiting the Kyrgyz Republic, totaling 995,300 visitors. Tajikistan followed closely with 449,800 visitors, and Kazakhstan welcomed 322,500 Uzbek tourists during this period.
