Prisoners in Uzbekistan will soon be able to make online purchases through newly installed information kiosks in places of detention, Norma reported. The initiative, which follows a government decree issued on June 27, aims to facilitate the ordering of goods by inmates and their families using advanced Face-ID technology.
These kiosks will be installed in penal institutions, allowing prisoners and their relatives to browse and order products online. This system is designed to streamline the process of purchasing necessary items, enhancing the convenience and accessibility of those incarcerated.
An online auction to secure the lease agreements for these kiosks will be conducted via the E-auksion platform. These agreements will then be registered in the online-ijara.uz system, ensuring proper documentation and transparency in the process.
The implementation of this project will be overseen by a selected investor, chosen through a tender process. The investors must demonstrate significant experience in e-commerce, possess the required software for managing information kiosks, and exhibit financial stability. The winning investor will be granted the right to install these kiosks for a duration ranging from six months to three years.
