In a collaborative effort between the Agency for Strategic Reforms (ASR) and the Bostanlyk district khokimiyat (city administration), plans are underway to transform economic prospects in Bostanlyk district with a proposal. Identified as a strategic "growth point," Bostanlyk district, spanning 4,900 km² with a population of 176,700 people across 59 mahallas, is set to embark on a transformative economic journey.
The initiative aims to implement 3,169 projects valued at UZS 1.2 trillion ($95.6mn) between 2024 and 2027, projected to generate 5,000-6,000 new jobs and inject an additional income of UZS 17.9bn ($1.4mn) into the local economy.
Among these projects, a standout proposal involves the development of a state-of-the-art market complex sprawling across 30 hectares in the Dumalok mahalla, estimated at $60mn. This visionary project, crafted in collaboration with Chinese and German companies, is slated to commence in 2025, promising to create 2,000-7,000 new jobs, establish over 3,000 service facilities, and contribute UZS 10bn ($796,290) to the district's budget.
Enhancing tourism infrastructure is also a key focus, with plans to elevate Tovoksoy Sharsharalari's appeal in the Bo Gchaovul mahalla. Drawing 12,000 visitors in 2023, the proposal includes reclassifying 3.85 hectares of land to accommodate service facilities such as food outlets, retail spaces, picnic areas, and capsule hotels. This initiative anticipates the creation of more than 30 service facilities worth over UZS 7.5bn ($597,217), 100 new jobs, and an additional UZS 1.1bn ($87,591) for the local budget.
Further optimizing the economic landscape, the Kushkurgon mahalla stands to benefit from a proposed beverage production enterprise spanning 1.5 hectares. Valued at UZS 18.7bn ($1.5mn), this project is expected to generate over 150 new jobs and contribute more than UZS 1.1bn ($87,591) annually to the district's revenue.
To expedite these transformative endeavors, the ASR and Bostanlyk district khokimiyat have jointly drafted a resolution for the Cabinet of Ministers on measures to accelerate economic development and increase income in the Bostanlyk district of the Tashkent region.
