Uzbekistan and Japan agreed to enhance the development of the food industry through a joint effort, the National Information Agency of Uzbekistan reports. The Uzbekistan-Japan Food Industry Development Forum was held in Tashkent, and organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries of Japan in collaboration with Uzbekistan's Ministry of Agriculture. This event included participation from government officials, business representatives, and industry experts from both countries.
Mizuno Masayoshi, Japan's Director General for the Export and International Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, and Shokhrukh Gulyamov, Uzbekistan's Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade, emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations to advance agriculture and the food industry.
Japan and Uzbekistan have been working to expand their cooperation in the agri-food sector since 2015, which was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Representatives from the Japanese government and businesses presented advanced agricultural technologies, discussing their potential implementation in Uzbekistan. The discussions aimed at integrating modern technologies into Uzbek agriculture and providing high-quality, innovative seed products for local farmers.
The forum included an exhibition showcasing Japanese cuisine, high-quality fish products, and well-known varieties of Japanese green tea. This exhibition aimed to demonstrate the potential integration of Japanese agricultural products into the Uzbek market.
