Kazakhstan ranks 12th worldwide for the lowest petrol prices, with a rate of $0.55 per litre, as reported by Rhino Car Hire’s latest ranking of global petrol and diesel prices. In Asia, Kazakhstan is second, just behind Turkmenistan, which ranks first in the region and eighth globally, with petrol priced at $0.43 per litre. Kyrgyzstan holds the third position in Asia, offering petrol at $0.78 per litre.
Iran tops the global list with petrol prices at $0.03 per litre, mainly due to substantial government subsidies. Despite recent price increases and rationing, Iran continues to offer the cheapest petrol globally. Venezuela is second, with petrol priced at $0.04 per litre, although it faces significant economic issues like hyperinflation and resource management challenges.
EnergyProm reports that Kazakhstan experienced a significant increase in fuel production in early 2024. In 2M24, the country produced 899,800 tons of petrol, a 3.1% rise compared to the same period last year. Diesel production also increased by 5.8%, reaching 857,200 tons.
As of January, Kazakh refineries nearly met the entire domestic demand, supplying 99.99% of petrol and 98.3% of diesel fuel.
