Kazakhstan saw a 9.5% rise in rail oil exports in 5M24, reaching 2.3 mn tons, Kazakhstan Railways National Company reports. There was also growth in the export of various other commodities. Iron ore and manganese exports rose by 8.4%, totalling 4.7 mn tons. Exports of black metals went up by 5%, reaching 1.4 mn tons.
Additionally, the export of processed foods saw a 2.3% increase, amounting to 1 mn tons. Fertilizer exports surged by 12%, reaching over 0.5 mn tons, and exports of construction materials increased by 9%, totalling 0.14 mn tons.
Overall, Kazakhstan's railway system transported 102.4 mn tons of goods from January to May 2024. Of this total, 34.2 mn tons were exported, while 68.2 mn tons were moved domestically.
During this period, coal transportation amounted to 40.6 mn tons, with 30.3 mn tons distributed within Kazakhstan. Additionally, the railway network transported over 3.7 mn tons of grain.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) revised its oil production forecast for Kazakhstan on June 2024, projecting a production of approximately 2.1 mn barrels per day (mb/d) in 2025. This revised outlook marks a slight downward adjustment of 0.01 mb/d from the previous month's assessment.
