The Governor of the Andijan region, Shukhrat Abdurahmonov, and Governor Sergey Kudryashov, CEO of Zarubezhneft inked a memorandum outlining plans for the construction of a solar panel power station in the Andijan region during his fruitful visit to Moscow.
Governor Shukhrat Abdurahmonov of Andijan and CEO Sergey Kudryashov of Zarubezhneft inked a memorandum detailing their joint initiative for the construction of a solar panel power station in the Andijan region.
The project, slated for implementation between 2024 and 2026, will see the establishment of a solar facility with a total capacity of 100 megawatts. Valued at a staggering $100mn, this initiative marks a substantial investment in the region's renewable energy sector. The initial stage of the project, set to commence with 18 megawatts of capacity, will be realized with an investment of $18 mn.
In addition to the solar power venture, negotiations led by the governor resulted in another landmark agreement. A contract was inked with the "Special Energy" subsidiary of the Rosatom state corporation and Zarubezhneft for the execution of a $100mn project aimed at household waste processing and electricity generation. This strategic partnership signifies a concerted effort to address environmental concerns while harnessing untapped energy resources within the region.
By leveraging renewable energy sources and innovative waste management solutions, the region is poised to enhance its energy security while mitigating environmental impact.
Russia and Uzbekistan maintain a robust energy partnership primarily centered around natural gas and oil. Gazprom, Russia's state-owned energy company, engages in joint ventures and agreements with Uzbekistan for the exploration, production, and transportation of natural gas, leveraging Uzbekistan's significant reserves.
Collaborations extend to oil exploration and production as well, albeit with Uzbekistan's smaller reserves. Together, they develop pipeline infrastructure, including domestic and transnational pipelines, ensuring the reliable supply of Uzbek natural gas to domestic and international markets. Beyond commercial interests, this partnership also fosters closer political and economic ties between the two countries, contributing to regional stability. While the focus has been on conventional energy, there's potential for collaboration in renewable energy as both nations show increasing interest in this sector.
