A memorandum has been inked between a Turkish company and Kyrgyzstan for the construction of a plant dedicated to producing drip and sprinkler irrigation equipment in the country, the Cabinet of Ministers reported.
The memorandum was formalized between Bakyt Torobaev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, and Hüseyin Akin, the head of Akplas Plastik San. ve Tic A.Ş, a prominent Turkish company with 35 years of experience in the industry.
During discussions held with Akylbek Zhaparov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of the Administration of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, representatives from Akplas Plastik San. ve Tic A.Ş elaborated on their extensive expertise and the company’s commitment to contributing to Kyrgyzstan’s agricultural advancement.
Following the investment agreement, the initial phase entails the company allocating $10mn towards establishing a plant dedicated to manufacturing drip irrigation equipment. It is anticipated that the construction phase will span eight months, with the plant set to occupy 10 hectares of land. Once operational, the facility will focus on producing equipment crucial for drip irrigation, a method known for its efficiency in water usage, particularly pertinent amidst global concerns over climate change.
Chairman Akylbek Zhaparov affirmed the government's staunch support for entrepreneurial endeavors seeking to invest in Kyrgyzstan. He directed relevant government bodies to expedite assistance, ensuring the timely resolution of pertinent issues to facilitate the project's smooth progress.
Minister Bakyt Torobaev emphasized the imperative of judicious water usage in light of evolving climatic conditions worldwide. He underscored the significance of implementing such systems across all regions of the country, hinting that the success of this project could warrant national recognition.
In turn, Hüseyin Akin expressed gratitude for the government’s support, and articulated confidence in the company's ability to deliver tangible outcomes in a short timeframe. He pledged to provide necessary training to local farmers, thereby fostering knowledge exchange and skill development within the agricultural community.
