Uzbekistan's athletes performed exceptionally well on the first day of the Central Asian Athletic Open Championships, securing a total of 37 medals, the National Olympic Committee reports.
Uzbekistan's track-and-field athletes achieved significant success, winning 11 gold, 15 silver, and 11 bronze medals.
The championship saw participation from over 400 athletes representing Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, and other countries, promising a high level of competition.
Earlier, the National Olympic Committee that during a tournament in Geneva, track-and-field athlete Anvar Anvarov set a new Uzbek record in the long jump, leaping a distance of 8.22 metres. This achievement surpasses the previous record set almost 40 years ago, in 1985.
Anvar Anvarov's performance earned him recognition on the international stage, with World Athletics ranking him 85th in the world long jump rankings. His success highlights not only his talent but also the growing competitiveness of Uzbekistan's athletics globally.
