Cargo transportation by air saw a notable increase in Kyrgyzstan during 1Q24. The total cargo turnover for air transport reached 72.3 mn ton-kilometres, soaring by 19.5 times over the figures recorded in January–March 2023, which stood at 3.7 mn ton-kilometres. Kyrgyzstan’s State Statistical Committee reveals that 4,300 tons of cargo were transported from January through March 2024. This marks a 43-fold increase compared to the 100 tons transported during the same period in 2023.
In total, the amount of cargo transported in Kyrgyzstan from January through March 2024 amounted to nearly 12 mn tons. This represents an increase of nearly 600,000 tons, or 4.8%, compared to the same period in 2023 when 11.4 mn tons were transported.
The majority of the transported goods, totalling 9.8 mn tons, were carried by automobile transport. Railway transportation accounted for almost 2 mn tons, and pipeline transportation for 168,200 tons.
The total cargo turnover for all transportation modes in Kyrgyzstan reached 756.5 mn ton-kilometers. This marks a 10.3% increase compared to the same period in 2023 when the turnover was 686 mn ton-kilometres.
