An Air India flight AI-127, en route from Delhi to Chicago, was forced to make an emergency landing at Tashkent International Airport. The reason for the diversion was a medical emergency involving an 86-year-old female passenger who suffered a heart attack during the flight, Uzbekistan Airports reports.
The aircraft landed at Tashkent airport at 06:44 (GMT+5), and the passenger, along with her companion, was swiftly taken by ambulance to the Republican Scientific Centre for Emergency Medical Care for treatment.
After the medical emergency was addressed, the Air India aircraft is now in the process of preparing for departure from Tashkent airport to resume its journey to Chicago.
Earlier, Uzbekistan Airports reported that Tashkent International Airport is set to witness the construction of a new cargo terminal. With a planned throughput capacity of 120,000 tons annually, the terminal aims to bolster the airport's cargo handling efficiency and accommodate the growing demands of the aviation sector.
