President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to embark on state visit to Tajikistan
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan is set to embark on a state visit to Tajikistan on April 18-19, following an invitation extended by President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan, presidential press service informed on April 17.
The visit's itinerary includes high-level talks, bilateral meetings, and joint events to be held in the capital city of Dushanbe. These discussions will focus on further enhancing and solidifying the friendship, good neighborliness, strategic partnership, and alliance relations between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. Both leaders are expected to explore avenues for promoting cooperation projects in key sectors such as trade, industry, agriculture, energy, and transport.
Particular attention will be devoted to expanding relations between regions, facilitating cultural-humanitarian exchanges, and bolstering tourism initiatives.
Furthermore, President Mirziyoyev and President Rahmon will exchange views on current international and regional issues of mutual interest, reflecting their shared commitment to regional stability and security.
A significant outcome of the summit is anticipated with the adoption of a comprehensive set of bilateral documents.
Earlier Daryo reported that by the conclusion of 2023, the combined trade value of agricultural and food products between the two nations stood at $60.6 mn. Uzbekistan's exports to Tajikistan accounted for $55.8 mn, while imports from Tajikistan amounted to $4.8 mn.
