Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio is set to spearhead a trade mission to Kazakhstan, leading a delegation of 17 Finnish companies representing key industrial sectors pivotal to Finland's exports . Scheduled from April 9 to 12, the mission aims to strengthen bilateral relations, enhance trade promotion efforts, and explore avenues for expanded cooperation between the two nations.
Finnish expertise in various sectors, including energy production and sustainable resource management, aligns well with Kazakhstan's aspirations for economic growth and development. With abundant natural resources at its disposal, Kazakhstan is actively seeking innovative solutions to address energy needs and promote sustainable practices.
Minister Tavio expressed optimism about the potential of Finnish companies to contribute positively to Kazakhstan's economic landscape.
"Kazakhstan has great market potential for Finnish expertise," Minister Tavio remarked, highlighting the synergy between Kazakhstan's needs and Finnish capabilities.
The trade mission is supported by EastCham Finland, a key stakeholder within the Team Finland network. EastCham Finland plays a crucial role in facilitating Finnish companies' operations in Central Asia, particularly in emerging markets like Kazakhstan.
Jaana Rekolainen, CEO of EastCham Finland, emphasized the importance of the minister-led visit in promoting access to the Kazakh market. Rekolainen stressed the careful groundwork laid by the delegation, ensuring compliance with sanctions and a deep understanding of customer needs across various sectors such as mining, energy, construction, and education.
An event during the visit is the Finnish-Kazakh Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation meeting scheduled to take place in Astana on April 11. The meeting, hosted by Kazakhstan's Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Yerlan Nyssanbayev, will see government representatives and business leaders engaging in discussions covering connectivity, transport, extractive industry, energy, and education. Minister Tavio is poised to underscore the importance of cooperation in upholding sanctions and preventing circumvention, highlighting the commitment to ethical business practices and international norms.
The visit also provides an opportunity for Finland and Kazakhstan to explore collaboration in sustainable technology solutions. Kazakhstan's ambition to diversify its economy beyond reliance on natural resources presents new avenues for Finnish companies to contribute to Kazakhstan's economic transformation.
