Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Fariddin Nasriyev, recently met with Saad Khan, President of the Institute of Culture of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) to discuss enhancing multilateral cooperation and organizing joint cultural events with Uzbekistan, Dunyo reports.

Saad Khan acknowledged Uzbekistan's pivotal role in the region, highlighting its stature as one of the leading countries. The Institute of Culture of OIC expressed readiness to bolster collaboration with Uzbekistan across various cultural domains.
Key agenda items included deliberations on collaborative cultural endeavors aimed at fostering mutual understanding and exchange. Both parties explored avenues for joint cultural events, reflecting the shared commitment to deepening cultural ties.
Saad Khan extended congratulations to Uzbekistan for being designated as the tourism capital of the Economic Cooperation Organization in 2024. Uzbekistan's historic city of Shahrisabz was bestowed with this prestigious title, affirming its significance as a cultural and tourist destination.
A Brief Overview of ECO
Originally founded as the Regional Cooperation for Development (RCD) in 1964, the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) emerged in 1985. Comprising countries spanning from the Caucasus to Central and South Asia, ECO encompasses diverse regions, bridging continents and cultures. With a vast population exceeding 460mn and an expansive territory of over 8mn km², ECO serves as a vital platform for regional collaboration and development.
Earlier, it was reported that environment ministers from member countries of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) engaged in a high-level dialogue to address urgent environmental issues and accelerate the transition towards resource-efficient, sustainable development, and a circular economy in the ECO region.
