President Mirziyoyev urges radical expansion of cooperation with Kazakhstan
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan held a meeting on March 15 with a government delegation led by the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Oljas Bektenov, press service of the president of Uzbekistan reported.
During the meeting, President Mirziyoyev warmly congratulated Prime Minister Bektenov on his recent appointment to the position and extended his best wishes for success in his new role. In response, Prime Minister Bektenov conveyed greetings and well-wishes from the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to President Mirziyoyev.
The discussions primarily focused on enhancing the multifaceted partnership between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Both parties underscored the importance of formulating a new agenda for cooperation, particularly in preparation for upcoming high-level joint events.
Addressing trade-related matters, the leaders highlighted the need to address obstacles hindering the expansion of mutual trade. It was agreed that concerted efforts, including those by the working group led by competent ministers, would be necessary to overcome these challenges.
Furthermore, the meeting delved into the potential for cooperation in key sectors such as industry, transport, and logistics. Both leaders emphasized the significance of bolstering collaboration in these strategic areas.
President Mirziyoyev stressed the importance of maintaining close and systematic governmental relations to facilitate the comprehensive expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
