Senator Steve Daines, a Republican from Montana, issued a warning about a potential threat to the U.S. He expressed concerns about a growing network of individuals entering the U.S. illegally through the southern border, who could potentially be plotting an attack on American soil. In a press conference held on February 27, Senator Daines revealed that he was informed by a high-ranking individual that over 50,000 Central Asians illegally crossed into the U.S. in 2023.
The same individual also expressed apprehension about a possible terror attack within the U.S., suggesting that these migrants could be part of sleeper cells planning such an attack.
According to the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC), a non-profit organization that monitors asylum court hearings, at least 40,000 Central Asian nationals are currently awaiting U.S. asylum court proceedings. This group includes 17,000 individuals from Uzbekistan, 7,000 from Kyrgyzstan, 3,000 from Tajikistan, 2,700 from Kazakhstan, and 2,000 from Turkmenistan.
Senator Daines' revelation comes at a time when lawmakers are becoming increasingly worried about Chinese nationals crossing over the border into the U.S. This concern adds another layer of complexity to the ongoing discussions about border security and immigration policies.
