Turkish delegation visits Uzbekistan to strengthen economic cooperation

At the invitation of Uzbekistan's Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction, a delegation led by Serkan Kayalar, President of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), recently visited Uzbekistan to strengthen economic ties between the two nations, the government portal of Uzbekistan reported.

The delegation's arrival follows the recent 7th meeting of the Uzbekistan-Türkiye Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, which took place in Ankara on December 25-26, 2023. Discussions primarily focused on mechanisms for implementing existing agreements between the two countries.

Highlighting the importance of leveraging Türkiye's experience, particularly in vocational training, skill assessment systems, and labor control, both parties expressed optimism about the potential benefits of enhanced collaboration.

"The use of experience gained by Türkiye would be beneficial to the parties," noted officials during the meeting.

TIKA, with a longstanding presence of 30 years in Uzbekistan, has been instrumental in implementing numerous socio-economic projects in collaboration with local authorities. Looking ahead, Serkan Kayalar emphasized ambitious plans for the next three decades, underscoring the organization's commitment to fostering long-term partnerships and sustainable development initiatives.

As part of the discussions, plans were unveiled to increase the number of entrepreneurship development training programs for poverty alleviation and employment departments, as well as assistant mayors in Türkiye. TIKA affirmed its readiness to support these endeavors, signaling a renewed commitment to empowering local communities through skills training and capacity-building initiatives.

Furthermore, exciting new projects were unveiled, including the establishment of the "Uzbekistan-Türkiye Entrepreneurship Training Center" and the "Uzbek-Turkish Joint Vocational Training Center." These initiatives, meticulously developed to align with the evolving needs of both nations, hold promising prospects for fostering innovation and economic growth.

One project discussed during the meeting is the construction of a state-of-the-art training facility spanning over 15,000 square meters in the Uchtepa district of Tashkent city. With a total training capacity of up to 1,000 individuals and offerings spanning 25 different short-term occupations, including technical services for electric cars and alternative energy sources, the center aims to equip participants with the skills needed to thrive in modern industries.

In addition to outlining the scope and objectives of these projects, both parties affirmed their commitment to providing comprehensive methodological and material-technical support to ensure the success of these initiatives. By offering education and training tailored to contemporary industry standards, the centers aspire to bridge skill gaps and empower individuals to seize new opportunities in today's dynamic job market.
