The President emphasized the significance of Kazakhstan's initiative to establish a UN Regional Center for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty.
Regarding global security challenges, President Tokayev acknowledged the prevalence of geopolitical conflicts, terrorism, and climate emergencies. He emphasized the erosion of fundamental principles of international law, particularly those embodied in the Charter of the United Nations, as a key concern.
President Tokayev stressed the importance of dialogue in resolving conflicts and advocated for comprehensive reform of the UN Security Council to better represent the voices of middle powers and developing countries. He identified Kazakhstan and Qatar as potential actors capable of playing a significant role in ensuring global peace and security.
Commending Qatar's peacekeeping efforts and mediation initiatives in various conflicts, including Palestine, President Tokayev emphasized the need for high-level diplomacy to prevent further escalation of violence. Earlier Daryo reported that as per to the Afghanistan Freedom Front, any efforts to normalize relations with the Taliban are seen as a significant danger to the peace and security of Afghanistan, as well as the wider region and the world. They contend that the Taliban's military actions against terrorist groups are merely a facade, intended to advance their own interests and bolster the positions of their purported terrorist associates, especially in northern Afghanistan and Central Asia.
