Kazakhstan's capital, Astana, is gearing up to host the second annual Astana International Forum (AIF), set to convene on June 13 and 14, 2024, under the leadership of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan reported. Following the resounding success of its inaugural edition in 2023, this year's forum promises to serve as a crucial platform for global leaders and stakeholders to address pressing challenges to international security, stability, and prosperity.
The AIF 2024 is poised to draw high-profile government officials and business magnates from across the globe, fostering dialogue on key issues of contemporary significance and forging pathways for enhanced cooperation.
Building upon the achievements of its predecessor, which saw the participation of over 5,000 delegates representing more than 50 countries, including heads of state, eminent politicians, corporate titans, and prominent public figures, the AIF 2024 will maintain its focus on four principal domains: foreign policy and international security, international development and sustainability, energy and climate change, and economics and finance.
Over the course of two dynamic days, attendees can anticipate a flurry of panel discussions, interactive sessions, and strategic networking opportunities, all aimed at translating dialogue into actionable strategies to reinvigorate multilateralism and foster bilateral partnerships.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev underscored the significance of the forum, stating:
"In an era marked by polarization and fragmentation, ongoing economic and geopolitical turmoil threatens to undermine the core principles of cooperation and mutual respect. I am very proud that, through the Astana International Forum, Kazakhstan is helping to protect and strengthen the international system at this key juncture."
Themed "Empowering People, Uniting Nations: Building a Better World Together," the AIF 2024 seeks to inject fresh perspectives and collaborative solutions into the global discourse, addressing the most pressing challenges confronting humanity today.
Kazakhstan's strategic positioning as a pivotal link between the East and West amplifies its role as a facilitator of vital conversations among leading political, economic, and cultural stakeholders from around the world.
Moreover, the AIF 2024 marks a significant milestone for Kazakhstan on the global stage, as the country assumes the chairmanship of several prominent international organizations, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia, the Organization of Turkic States, the Islamic Food Organization, and the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea.
Registration for the event is now open, and interested parties can sign up through the official Astana International Forum website at astanainternationalforum.org.
