The Malaysian supermarket chain, KK Super Mart, is considering opening stores in Uzbekistan. This was revealed during a meeting at the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Malaysia, as the Dunyo reported.
Joint investment opportunities
The meeting was centred around exploring cooperative ventures between the Uzbek government and the Malaysian company, with a particular focus on the execution of joint investment projects. Detailed insights into the business development opportunities and conditions offered by Uzbekistan to foreign investors were shared with the Malaysian delegation.
Uzbekistan’s economic progress
Kin Chai, the leader of the KK Group of Companies, acknowledged the positive economic transformations in Uzbekistan. He emphasized the tax and customs incentives offered to foreign investors, which render the republic a lucrative destination for them.
Collaboration with Uzbek business representatives
The Malaysian delegation expressed a keen interest in forging ties with the Uzbek business community. It was suggested that the successful Malaysian supermarket chain “KK Super Mart” could potentially extend its reach to Uzbekistan, given the conducive environment.
Trading house proposal
The company’s director indicated a willingness to discuss the establishment of a trading house. This proposed trading house, to be set up within the company’s premises, would collaborate with Uzbek manufacturers.
Looking ahead
The meeting concluded with a decision to explore establishing a network of “KK Super Mart” retail stores in Uzbekistan. The idea of setting up a trading house for Uzbek products, spanning an area of 200 m² within the building, was also put forth.
The “KK Group of Companies” is a multifaceted conglomerate involved in food retail, e-commerce, hotel management, and construction. The company oversees more than 800 shopping centres across Malaysia.
