MY Freighter, a private Uzbek airline, has joined the list of partners at Turkmenabat International Airport, the administrative centre of Turkmenistan's Lebap region.
Local newspaper Jeyhun News reports that a freighter from the airline recently made its first commercial landing at Turkmenabat. Companies such as Terra Avia (Moldova), GEOSKY Airlines (Georgia) and MNG Airlines (Turkey) make technical landings at the port.
The new international airport was opened in 2018. The project was carried out by the local construction company Gundogdy.
The runway is 3,800 metres long and 65 metres wide and is equipped with modern ground support equipment for flight support lighting and weather systems to serve aircraft of all types.
The cargo terminal with storage facilities is designed to handle 200,000 tonnes of cargo per year. The aerodrome has an automated meteorological system, radio, light signalling and ornithological equipments.
