Uzbekistan emerges as Central Asia's leader in top-rated hotels

In a comprehensive review of Central Asia's hospitality sector, Uzbekistan stands out as a frontrunner, boasting the highest proportion of top-rated hotels in the region.

A study on the top-rated hotels in Central Asia, Uzbekistan lists a total of 1130 properties categorized as hotels, guest houses, hostels, or bed and breakfasts on Booking.com. Notably, 528 of these establishments have garnered an exceptional rating of 9 or higher, translating to an impressive 47% of Uzbekistan's hotels securing top-tier recognition.

Uzbekistan's hotels have the highest percentage of hotels rated at 9 or above out of 10

In contrast, neighboring countries like Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan exhibit varying levels of performance in hotel ratings. While Kyrgyzstan trails Uzbekistan with 35.31% of its hotels boasting ratings of 9 or higher, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan lag behind with 24.66% and 20.26%, respectively.

This disparity highlights Uzbekistan's remarkable progress in raising the bar for hospitality standards, solidifying its reputation as a premier destination for travelers to Central Asia.

Khiva particularly shines with 80% of its hotels achieving ratings of 9 or above. Following closely, Bukhara claims second place with 61% of its hotels earning similar accolades.

    1. Khiva: 79.75%
    2. Bukhara: 61.46%
    3. Karakol: 54.00%

Further insights from the study delve into the highest-performing hotels in major cities during the post-pandemic year of 2023 across Central Asia. Notably, a majority of the top-rated hotels in the region are independent establishments, many of which are small, family-run businesses.

In a move to bolster the tourism industry, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev endorsed a $150 million plan on January 12, with a specific focus on supporting family-owned businesses within the sector.
