The Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan has prepared a draft state program for the implementation of the Uzbekistan 2030 strategy in 2024. The program, which was announced by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in his New Year’s address, has declared 2024 as “a year of support for youth and business”.
Focus on Youth Entrepreneurship
The draft decree pays special attention to youth and business, particularly youth entrepreneurship. In an effort to popularize business among the youth, at least 40% of loans under family entrepreneurship programs will be allocated to projects of young people. This initiative is part of the broader “Uzbekistan-2030” strategy, which outlines key economic goals such as ensuring GDP growth of not less than 6% and maintaining investments at a minimum of 30% of GDP.
Young Entrepreneur Competition
Starting from June 1, the annual Young Entrepreneur competition will be launched. The newly formed Youth Agency will select promising business projects and ideas among young Uzbek citizens. For each project that has passed the republican stage of the competition, preferential loans will be allocated in the amount of up to 1000 minimum wages (UZS 340mn /$27,515) with partial reimbursement of interest. In addition, the winners will have the opportunity to go abroad to improve their skills.
Two Programmers in Each Mahalla
From March 1, the “Two Programmers in Each Mahalla” project will be launched. This initiative aims to help teens and young adults interested in the IT field with training, obtaining certificates, and employment in technology companies.
Ustoz Online Platform and Women’s Academy
The state program also plans to create an online platform, “Ustoz”, to train young people in modern professions. As part of a separate project, “Women’s Academy,” courses in entrepreneurship, marketing, and graphic design will be organized for girls.
The project was published on the regulation.gov.uz portal, as well as on the website uzbekistan2030.uz. The discussion will last until February 9.
