The Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Aidarbek Saparov, engages in a meeting with Federico Vecchioni, General Director of Bonifiche Ferraresi, a leading Italian agricultural holding, to discuss plans for exploring processing and pasta production, Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan reported. This meeting resulted in the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Agrofirma TNK group of companies and BF International Best Fields Best Food Limited, a subsidiary of Bonifiche Ferraresi.
Agrofirma TNK, operating in the Akmola region, manages 400,000 hectares of land and is recognized by Kazakhstan is under the Zhaksy trademark, producing a variety of agricultural products, including flour, cereals, and fermented milk. Bonifiche Ferraresi, on the other hand, specializes in the cultivation and marketing of agricultural products.
The collaboration aims to foster mutual growth and development, with a focus on technology exchange, seeds, and employee training in the initial stages. Subsequently, both companies plan to explore processing and pasta production.
Kazakhstan, with its abundant raw material base, is poised to significantly contribute to the pasta production industry. In 2022, the country produced 15.6 mn tons of soft wheat and 833,000 tons of durum wheat, with approximately 400,000 tons exported to Italy alone. This ample supply of durum wheat, known for its high protein and iron content, positions Kazakhstan to expand pasta production and boost exports.
"Kazakhstan has every opportunity to increase pasta production and exports since it has its own raw material base," Aidarbek Saparov emphasized the growth potential.
He highlighted the fact that the country's soft and durum wheat exports could be harnessed to elevate pasta production, aligning with the objective of expanding exports, particularly to Italy.
During the negotiations, Minister Saparov also underlined the favorable investment climate in Kazakhstan for Italian partners. He revealed that investors could directly engage in investment agreements with the Government of Kazakhstan for large-scale projects, with industry benefits and preferences designed to support the implementation of such ventures.
