Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev recently reviewed a presentation on the development of trade and tourism infrastructure, focusing on unlocking the tourism potential of the country, presidential press service reported. The projects aim to enhance opportunities for guest accommodation, aligning with the President's directives from a meeting in December 2023.
One significant initiative involves the construction of a modern recreation center in Miraki, Shakhrisabz region, with the goal of fostering mountain tourism. Similar facilities are also planned for the villages of Nurobod and Kumushkon in the Parkent district.
Additionally, a project for a tourist hub on the Maydanak plateau in Kashkadarya has been developed. This initiative envisions creating hostels from lightweight structures and repurposing existing buildings for trade and services.
President Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of arranging markets in the historical cities of Uzbekistan and previously mandated the development of projects for shopping complexes that serve as a "calling card," reflecting the national culture and regional characteristics of Uzbekistan.
The presentation also highlighted plans for new markets in Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva. Acknowledging the significance of studying the experiences of countries like Turkey and the Arab nations, there is a focus on attracting foreign specialists for the design aspects of these projects.
