From April 1, 2024, Uzbekistan will witness a vibrant transformation in its creative landscape. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree to launch the “Street Art and Music” project. This initiative aims to provide new locations for street artists and musicians, fostering a thriving environment for creativity and cultural expression.
New locations for artists and musicians
One of the key features of this project is the establishment of new locations for artists and musicians. In Tashkent, Sharaf Rashidov Street has been designated as one of these creative spaces. The full list of locations can be found on the lex.uz.
Monetary incentives for creative figures
To encourage and support the creative community, the project also includes a monetary incentive program. Every three months, ten active creative figures from the regions will receive a monetary incentive - from the calculation of 20 basic allowances (UZS 6.8mn or $550), sponsored by the state budget.
This initiative not only recognizes the contributions of these creative figures but also provides them with financial support to continue their artistic endeavours.
Tracking project participants
The Ministry of Culture will leverage digital technologies to track the participants of the project. This will ensure the effective management of the project and allow for the evaluation of its impact on the creative scene in Uzbekistan.
