In 4Q23, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan garnered an impressive 82.8% confidence level among the country's citizens, as revealed by political scientist Urazgali Selteyev, Tengrinews reports.
Selteyev noted a positive trend in increased sociological research dissemination by numerous research and expert-analysis organizations, both public and private, towards the year's end.
One particularly noteworthy survey conducted by the "Strategiya" socio-political research center assessed the approval of state bodies' activities in Kazakhstan. As per its findings, President Tokayev received a commendable 76.4% approval rating. Additionally, Demoscope and Paperlab, supported by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, recently released the results of the survey titled "Assessment of the current situation in Kazakhstan and the results of the year." The study delved into issues faced by citizens, public appeals, and trust in state institutions, revealing a 69.4% confidence level in the president.
Selteyev stressed the importance of regularly measuring not only the effectiveness of activities and the level of trust but also voters' ratings. In 4Q23, President Tokayev's trust level soared to 82.8%, with 85.6% of respondents rating his recent work as excellent or good. A significant 81.6% expressed optimism about Tokayev's ability to bring about positive change in the country's near future, while 80.5% indicated a likely vote for him if elections were held the following Sunday.
As Selteyev states, the 7.6% increase in confidence in Tokayev's policies compared to 1Q23 could be attributed to two factors. Firstly, Tokayev's open acknowledgment of systemic problems and the formulation of promising plans in September, and secondly, the political events during the fall season, marked by numerous engagements with foreign leaders, international organizations, and business representatives aimed at attracting foreign investments and addressing transport and logistics issues in the state head's program.
