Uzbekistan’s law enforcement agencies have initiated a pre-investigation check against 73-year-old entrepreneur Salim Abduvaliyev, known as "Salimbay" or "Boyvochcha". Abduvaliyev has been Deputy Chairman of the National Olympic Committee and Head of the Wrestling Association since January 2017.
On the evening of December 1, Abduvaliyev was reportedly detained by law enforcement agencies. His Instagram page, which had 135,000 followers, has since been deleted. This follows the news that Gafur Rakhimov, the first vice-president of the Professional Boxing Federation of Uzbekistan, is also wanted.
