A meeting of the Turkmen-Tajik intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation is scheduled for 26-28 November in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
Local television Altyn Asyr reports that the Turkmen delegation will be led by Deputy Prime Minister Tangryguly Atakhallyev.
Experts told Daryo that Ashgabat is linked to Dushanbe by several major economic projects. Through the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Tajikistan (TAT) railway, Turkmenistan hopes to reach China and from there the Asia-Pacific region.
In addition, a fourth branch of a transnational gas pipeline from Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan to China is under construction through Tajikistan.
In 2022, two-way trade totalled just $52.9mn, almost 2.5 times more than in the previous year.
