Turkmenistan and China are planning to hold a meeting of the intergovernmental committee on cooperation in Ashgabat on 29 November, local TV channel Altyn Asyr reports.
The issue was raised at the intergovernmental meeting. The main areas of partnership include the oil and gas sector, transport and logistics, agriculture, chemical and textile industries, science and education, high technology and health care.
Xinhua reports that the Beijing delegation will be led by Ding Xuexiang, Vice Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China.
Turkmenistan is the only one of the five Central Asian states with a positive trade balance with China. According to China's General Administration of Customs, Turkmenistan shipped $8.07bn worth of natural gas to China between January and October 2023.
Deliveries have been made since December 2009, following the commissioning of the gas pipeline built by the Chinese side through the territory of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
A fourth branch of the pipeline through Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan is currently under construction, which will increase annual gas supplies from Turkmenistan to 65bn cubic metres.
