Tajikistan launches extensive vaccination campaign against pneumococcal infection
Tajikistan is set to embark on a comprehensive vaccination drive against pneumococcal infection, targeting more than 830,000 children. Navruz Jafarov, the head of the epidemiological safety department at the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republic, shared details of the initiative with Sputnik Tajikistan.
Preparations for this substantial health undertaking are already in place, with the UN Children’s Fund having provided over a million doses of the Synflorios vaccine. Jafarov emphasized that all relevant departments within the ministry are gearing up for the campaign. The mass immunization initiative was scheduled to commence on Monday, November 20, spanning ten days as planned. To ensure comprehensive coverage, an additional week will be allocated to reach those who may have been missed or forgotten.
The primary objective of these mass vaccination days is to fortify children's immunity against pneumococcal infection and prevent vaccine-preventable infectious diseases. By implementing robust immunization measures, Tajikistan aims to uphold the health and well-being of its citizens while controlling and preventing infectious diseases.
Jafarov assured that the current epidemiological situation in the country is calm, under complete control, and more favorable than in some other nations.
