A meeting of the Turkmen-Azerbaijani intergovernmental commission and business forum will be held in Ashgabat on 27-28 November, local TV channel Altyn Asyr reports.
The event will be attended by companies specialising in oil and gas, textiles, agriculture, food, construction, pharmaceuticals, transport and logistics, and information technology.
Documents are expected to be signed at the end of the forum.
Experts told Daryo that Azerbaijan has been importing Turkmen gas since 2022 thanks to a trilateral swap agreement with Iran.
The Trans-Caspian gas pipeline project from Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan, Turkey and Europe is also becoming relevant amid the energy crisis in world markets. Negotiations are planned.
Baku and Ashgabat are also discussing projects to develop international transport corridors such as Lapis Lazuli (Afghanistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey) and Caspian-Black Sea.
According to the Azerbaijani side, the volume of mutual trade between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan in January-August 2023 totalled $644.767mn, which is more than two and a half times more than in the previous year.
