The 61st convention of the World Boxing Council (WBC) is underway in Tashkent, marking a significant moment for Uzbekistan in the global boxing arena. During a press conference on November 13, Mauricio Sulaiman, the president of WBC, spoke about the rising Uzbek boxer Bahadir Jalolov.
"I am sure that Jalolov is one of the prospects in boxing. Bahadir is among the top 15 in the WBC. He is actively moving. Someday, Jalolov will become one of the strongest boxers in the world in the super heavyweight category," Sulaiman affirmed.
Reflecting on why Uzbekistan was chosen to host the 2023 convention, Sulaiman emphasized the country's prominence in the boxing world.
"Uzbekistan is a very famous country. Uzbek boxers have achieved very good results both at the amateur Olympics and at the world championships. Also, there are leaders here who are creating great opportunities for sports."
The convention provides a platform for global boxing discussions, rule changes, and updates on championships. As Tashkent hosts this prestigious event, it underscores Uzbekistan's role in shaping the future of international boxing and its commitment to fostering sports excellence.
