“Over the past six years, the GDP of New Uzbekistan has increased one and a half times," President Mirziyoyev at 16th ECO Summit

Opening his address, President Mirziyoyev expressed his delight at hosting the summit in Uzbekistan and highlighted the shared ties that bind ECO member-states through common history, the holy religion of Islam, and rich cultural values. With a region home to half a billion people, he emphasized the immense potential for collaboration in trade, economy, industry, investment, innovation, and transport.

Despite the challenges posed by the global crisis, President Mirziyoyev commended the member-states for maintaining stable growth rates in their economies. He then turned the spotlight on Uzbekistan's ongoing irreversible reforms, placing a priority on economic liberalization and improving the standard of living for its citizens.

"In the past six years, the GDP of New Uzbekistan has increased by one and a half times," President Mirziyoyev announced proudly.

Looking ahead, he set an ambitious target to double this indicator by 2030. The president outlined the roadmap to achieve this goal, emphasizing the focus on creating a "green" economy, modern infrastructure, job creation, and actively attracting foreign investment.

President Mirziyoyev expressed readiness for effective cooperation with all ECO member-states, highlighting their unique voices and prestige on the international stage. He emphasized the complementary nature of the economies of neighboring countries, citing common trade and transport corridors, as well as interconnected energy networks.

"As the economies of our close and good neighborly countries can complement one another," President Mirziyoyev stated, "we certainly will achieve significant results in the future by finding together new 'points of growth.'"

The President of Uzbekistan called for united efforts in discovering new avenues for growth and strengthening the bonds of cooperation among ECO member-states, fostering a brighter and more prosperous future for the region.
