Uzbekistan has witnessed a remarkable surge in the import of solar panels, with figures exceeding 20 times what was reported in the corresponding period of 2022. According to the press service of the Customs Committee, during the first ten months of the year, Uzbekistan imported 3.85mn solar panels, valued at approximately $427,100.
The majority of these solar panels, about 98.3% of the total shipments, were imported from China, amounting to 3.79mn units. However, Uzbekistan also received supplies of solar panels from other countries, such as Hong Kong (15,500 devices), the United Arab Emirates (15,100 devices), Turkey (7,500 devices), and South Korea (6,800 devices).
The substantial increase in solar panel imports signifies Uzbekistan's commitment to expanding its renewable energy capacity. With a plan to commission 4 GW of new capacity by the end of the year, it's evident that the country is making significant strides toward harnessing solar energy and reducing its carbon footprint.
