Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoev extended a warm invitation to the representatives of the Organization of Turkic States to participate in an upcoming international conference focusing on the ideas of national identity and statehood of the Jadids. The announcement was made during a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States in Astana.
The conference, "Recents: Ideas of National Identity, Independence, and Statehood," is set to take place in Uzbekistan in December 2023. President Mirziyoev emphasized the importance of delving deep into the exemplary work and the scientific and creative legacy of their ancestors who lived in the last century. He highlighted that the member countries have been actively working on the in-depth study of this heritage.
"We need to deeply study the exemplary work and scientific and creative heritage of our ancestors who lived in the last century. In order to raise these issues to a new level, we invite your representatives to take an active part in the international conference," President Mirziyoev expressed during the meeting.
The Jadids were a group of intellectuals and reformists in Central Asia who played a significant role in promoting modernization, education, and cultural development during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Their ideas have had a lasting impact on the region's history and development.
