The presidents of Kazakhstan and France, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Emmanuel Macron, engaged in bilateral talks during the official visit of the French leader to Kazakhstan. The discussions aimed to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two nations, focusing on political dialogue, trade, economic collaboration, investments, energy, transport, logistics, and cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
The negotiations took place in the Eastern Hall, following a grand welcome ceremony that featured a guard of honor and the playing of both the national anthems of Kazakhstan and France.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev warmly greeted his French counterpart, emphasizing the significance of the visit.
"Welcome! this is a very big event. Thank you for accepting my invitation and arriving in Kazakhstan on an official visit. Cooperation between Kazakhstan and France is developing dynamically, and it is necessary to give it an additional impulse. Therefore, you can call your visit historical and very important. I am sure that today's negotiations will be productive," President Tokayev stated.
He further underscored the importance of the bilateral relationship, stating that France is a key and reliable partner for Kazakhstan within the European Union and one of the largest investors in the country's economy.
In reciprocation, Emmanuel Macron expressed profound appreciation for the strong ties between Kazakhstan and France. He thanked his hosts for facilitating the visit and stressed the importance of their partnership.
"I am delighted to be here in Astana today, (November 1), to have this opportunity to meet with you. I extend my heartfelt gratitude for your efforts in facilitating this visit, particularly in this pivotal year for our bilateral partnership," he expressed.
The discussions covered global issues, with a commitment to the UN Charter and principles of territorial integrity and national sovereignty. Bilateral matters, especially economic partnerships, were a key focus, and substantial agreements were announced to strengthen strategic and economic ties.
"I am pleased to announce that we are poised to formalize substantial agreements that will further strengthen the strategic and economic ties between our nations. Once more, I wish to emphasize my profound delight in our meeting today and the prospect of delving into our shared agenda," Macron shared
The leaders of Kazakhstan and France discussed the state and prospects for the development of their strategic partnership, focusing on strengthening political dialogue, deepening cooperation in various sectors, and enhancing cultural and humanitarian exchanges. They also exchanged views on pressing international and regional matters.
The negotiations were later expanded to include delegations from both countries, where discussions continued on various aspects of their bilateral relations, including trade, investments, and cooperation on global issues.
