The earthquake's epicenter was located at 34.75 degrees north latitude and 61.97 degrees east longitude in Afghanistan. It struck at a depth of 153 kilometers, which categorizes it as a deep-focus earthquake. The distance from the epicenter to Tashkent was approximately 962 kilometers in a southwestern direction, emphasizing the significant reach of this seismic event.
The earthquake occurred in several regions of Afghanistan, including Herat region. Officials of Herat Regional Hospital said that 117 people were injured and 2 people died as a result of the earthquake that occurred this morning. So far, most of those who have been hospitalized have been injured after running away from home or even jumping over the fences of high-rise buildings.
