Kazakhstan is considering Turkmenistan as an additional source of petroleum product imports for the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) market. This structure comprises Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia.
Kazakhstan's Energy Minister Almasadam Satkaliyev told reporters on the sidelines of the XV Eurasian Forum KAZENERGY.
"Among the potential suppliers of oil products to the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) we see oil refineries of Turkmenistan, the People's Republic of China. This process is in the working order."
Experts told Daryo that at this stage Turkmenistan produces about 10mn tonnes of oil annually, mostly for processing at local refineries in Turkmenbashi and Seidy. The country plans to triple this by 2030.
Turkmen Petroleum is an trader with offices in Dubai (UAE) and Frankfurt am Main (Germany). Cargoes are delivered to consumers by sea tankers, railway and road transport.
All available logistics routes are used, including international corridors Afghanistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey (Lapis Lazuli) and across the Caspian Sea.
