Starting in 2024, Uzbekistan and Russia will reclassify their flight arrangements into three categories: transit, bilateral, and trilateral.
This change comes after an agreement was reached between the Ministries of Transport in both Uzbekistan and Russia. The initial proposal for enhanced air travel connections from Uzbekistan to Russia was put forth by Uzbekistan's Ministry of Transport on September 12. After some deliberation, the Russian Ministry of Transport responded positively, albeit with specific conditions.
As a result, Uzbekistan Airways, Centrum Air, Qanot Sharq, and Panorama Airways have agreed to increase their weekly flight frequencies to various Russian cities. Uzbekistan Airways will operate 32 weekly flights to Moscow and 7 to St. Petersburg, while Centrum Air will offer 6 weekly flights to Moscow and 4 to St. Petersburg. Additionally, Qanot Sharq will operate 4 weekly flights from Tashkent to Moscow, and Panorama Airways will provide 3 weekly flights.
This decision comes after an earlier proposal to double air connectivity between Tashkent and Moscow was initially dismissed but later reconsidered and accepted by the aviation authorities of both countries.
